ICC has partnered with the State of Kansas Employee Health Plan Group (SEHP) to offer full-time employees health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, prescription drug coverage, dependent & health care flexible spending accounts, and a health savings or health reimbursement account.  New in 2021, SEHP also offers voluntary insurance products such as hospital indemnity, accidental injury and critical illness insurance plans.

Medical - The State Employee Health Plan (SEHP) offers four medical plans (Plans A, C, J, and N). Medical benefit coverage is provided through your choice of Aetna or Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas (BCBSKS). Each vendor offers its own unique network of contracting providers. All medical plan options include CVS Caremark Prescription Benefits, Quest Preferred Lab Benefits and 100% coverage for preventive services when using a Network provider, including annual preventive exams, age-appropriate immunizations, mammograms, colonoscopies, etc.

SEHP mandates new employees serve a 30-day waiting period before they are eligible for health insurance coverage.  New employees become eligible for coverage the 31st day after hire.   Waiver of the 30-day waiting period can be sought only where the “potential new employee is required to have insurance as a condition of obtaining a work visa for employment in the United States.  

Dental - SEHP offers full-time ICC employees dental benefits through Delta Dental Plan of Kansas. There is a single plan with multiple levels of coverage. The Enhanced level of coverage applies when you have received at least one dental exam or cleaning in the prior 12 months. The Basic level of coverage applies when you have not received at least one dental exam or cleaning in the prior 12 months. New enrollees in the dental plan automatically receive the enhanced level for their first 12 months of coverage.  Using your plan is easy with Delta Dental. Your plan utilizes both of Delta Dental’s nationwide networks: Delta Dental PPOTM and Delta Dental Premier®, but you will most likely experience lower out-of-pocket costs when visiting a Delta Dental PPO dentist. Delta Dental PPO providers have agreed to deeper discounts, which can mean greater savings to you. Delta Dental PPO and Premier dentists submit claims for your exams/services to Delta Dental, and they pay them directly - which means no hassle for you. Utilize our provider directory to find an in-network dentist.

Log in to your member account at Delta Dental or download the Delta Dental mobile app to manage your dental benefits with ease. You can access your member ID card by logging in to the Delta Dental mobile app or by printing a copy online through your member account or contact a Delta Dental representative at 1-800-234-3375..

Vision - Full-time ICC employees are offered two vision plans through Surency Life and Health. Surency partners with EyeMed Vision Care for your vision care provider network. Surency’s Insight network of providers offers you the choice of independent providers or retail providers, such as  LensCrafters, Target, Sears and Walmart to name a few. There are more than 700 providers at more than 200 locations for you to utilize.  You may search for a provider near you at: Surency - State of Kansas.  Surency also provides access to many value-added benefits which help you save money all year long.  These include Glasses.com and ContactsDirect.com where you may access and use your benefits in their online superstores that offer a wide variety of the world’s leading brands of frames and lenses.

Surency members may also receive a 40% discount for additional purchases of complete pairs of eyeglasses when using a participating EyeMed provider.  Check with the Surency State of Kansas Insight Network to make sure that your provider is participating in the additional discounts provided.  With the Sunperks discount plan, you’ll receive a $50 discount at any Sunglass Hut (no minimum purchase necessary).  More information on these plans and other value added benefits can be found at:   Surency - State of Kansas or by contacting a Surency representative at 1-866-818-8805.

Discounted brand selections can vary from provider to provider. Brand inventory is managed by the individual provider’s office without involvement from Surency/EyeMed.

Optional SEHP Coverage - The Hartford offers Hospital Indemnity, Accident, and Critical Illness insurance for State Employee Health Plan Members. Optional Insurance Coverage: ICC partners with SEK Financial to offer additional coverage options of cancer insurance, short-term disability, life insurance, medical transport and accident insurance.  For more information regarding these plans, please contact SEK Financial directly at (620) 223-5756.

Optional Retirement Plans - ICC offers employees an opportunity to save for retirement through a 403(b) plan pre-tax plan or a ROTH plan thorough SEK Financial.  Full-time employees can contribute a percentage or flat-amount (subject to IRS rules) of their annual salary, in either a pre-tax or after-tax investment, if you choose to participate. Vesting is five years. ICC makes currently matches employee's contribution up to a 2% match contribution. Kansas Public Employees Retirement System (KPERS) administers the statewide defined-benefit retirement plan for state and local public employees. Participation in KPERS retirement plan is mandatory upon date of hire into a full-time FTE position. mandatory.  Full-time employees contribute 6% of their gross wages each payday into their KPERS account and are 100% vested in their KPERS account after 5-years of continuous employment.
 
All KPERS accounts also include long-term disability and basic life insurance coverage at no cost to the employee.  Basic life insurance is 150% of your annual salary.

Personal - A total of three (3) full days of supervisor approved personal leave shall be granted to all personnel each year. After completion of one year of employment, continuing part-time employees shall be granted one (1) supervisor-approved personal leave day per year (Board Policy PSL-702).

Sick - All full-time non-faclty employees earn sick time beginning the first day of employment to a cumulative maximum of 15 days (120 hours per year).  Faculty members should refer to the Negotiated Agreement. Sick time is earned for eligible employees at a rate of 1.25 days per month for full-time exempt (non-faculty) employees and 10 hours per month for full-time non-exempt (non-faculty) employees.  The eligible employee may use sick time for the care of the employee's immediate family to include the spouse, significant other, parents (including in-laws), step-parents, children, step-children, siblings, grand-children, great grand-children, grandparents, great grand-parents, and other persons whose residence is in the home of the employee (Board Policy PSL-703).

Tuition , Fees, and Use of Books Benefit - All full-time employees, their spouse or life partner and their legal dependents may attend Independence Community College classes free of charge. Special fees associated with coursework will be the responsibility of the enrollee (Board Policy PSL-706).

Vacation - All full-time non-faculty, non-coaching staff and continuing part-time non-exempt (hourly) employees earn vacation days/hours beginning the first day of thr month following the start of employment. After completion of one year of employment, continuing part-time non-exempt (hourly) employees earn up to a maximum of 20 hours of vacation pay per year (Board Policy PSL-707).
