Foundation Scholarships
At Independence Community College, we're committed to supporting our students' future. Scholarships play a vital role in helping students afford their education, and the best part is, they don't have to be paid back! We believe in recognizing exceptional leadership, academic excellence, and community service through our scholarship programs.
Types of Scholarships
An Annual Scholarship is awarded every year and used during that year. Annual scholarships are renewed on a yearly basis and may be given as a memorial, a designated club's donation, a business donation, or in any person's or family's name. This scholarship may be given one or both semesters during the school year.
The Endowment Scholarship is created through a generous contribution of a substantial sum of money, which allows the scholarship to be sustained by the interest generated from the principal amount. This type of scholarship serves as a perpetual memorial to the donor, ensuring a lasting impact on the lives of students. Endowment scholarships can be established in various forms, such as a family scholarship, a tribute to an individual, a memorial, or through diverse arrangements that honor the donor's wishes. Recipients of this scholarship may receive it for one or both semesters during the school year, providing valuable support throughout their academic journey.
Scholarships are available to both new and continuing students and are granted based on a range of criteria, including academic excellence, leadership abilities, intended major of study, community service, talents, financial need, and any additional requirements specified by the scholarship donor. Unlike loans, scholarships are funds that do not require repayment, providing students with valuable financial support for their education.
To be considered for a scholarship, applicants are responsible for completing the necessary forms and providing a valid letter of recommendation. This process allows the scholarship committee to assess each applicant's qualifications and make informed decisions. Scholarships present an excellent opportunity for students to receive recognition and assistance in pursuing their educational goals.
