ICC Adult Education

The ICC Adult Education Center staff is here to serve individuals that are interested in completing their high school credential and beginning the transition process to vocational education, post-secondary education or the workforce.  The ICC Adult Education Center is part of the Eastern Kansas Adult Education Consortium.  EKAE includes centers in Chanute, Fort Scott, Parsons, Ottawa, Pittsburg, and Independence.  The ICC Adult Education Center is housed at the Fab Lab ICC at 2564 Brookside, Room 109.

Classes are offered throughout the year on an eight (8) week interval.  Class sessions are held Monday through Thursday at 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with study sessions on Fridays from 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.  “Begin Anew U”, a class for high school graduates and those who have earn a high school equivalency meets from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursdays. All classes feature a project class where students use problem solving and critical thinking to make things. This along with the academic studies prepare students for passing the GED tests, entering the workforce, and entering post-secondary education.

GED Testing Information

In 2002, Independence Community College became a Regional GED Testing Site.  The General Education Development examination became a computer-based examination as of January 1, 2014.  ICC is an approved PearsonVUE Testing Center and it is housed at the ICC West Campus 2615 West Main; Room 111.  The PearsonVUE Testing Center is typically open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. of each week.  Students are encouraged to call the Adult Education Center at 620-332-5631 for additional information.  Additional information is also available on the www.ged.com website.
