ICC Fine Arts will wrap up its performing season with a final Choir and Band Concert on May 7 at 2:00 pm. The event will take place in the William Inge Theatre, and admission is free.
"My theme and vision for this academic year have been showing music's beauty and transformational power through choral singing," explained Zachary Cooke, Associate Professor of Vocal Music. "I am incredibly proud and honored to serve Independence by leading and directing the Independence Chamber Singers and Chorale! They have worked diligently and passionately in learning and performing this music. The music will personify the emotional and intimate expressions culminating in thoughtful text and luscious melodies!"
The concert will cover works from Jacob Narverud, Victor C. Johnson, Michael John Trotta, and more.
"It's been an honor to conduct our Concert Band this year," concluded Bridget Carson, Interim Director for Instrumental. "Their work ethic and musicality are just a joy. Our Spring concert is inspired by our location, our "Home on the Range" on the Central Flyway for migratory birds and our year-round residents. Music related to birds that evoke travel and elements of habitat are all in play. We hope you enjoy our display garden arrangement in the Margaret Goheen Foyer displaying how even small gardens thoughtfully planted can support our avian friends."
