The William Inge Center for the Arts at Independence Community College is thrilled to announce Christin Eve Cato as the Fall 2024 Inge Playwright-In-Residence. Cato, an acclaimed Puerto Rican playwright, educator, and interdisciplinary artist from the Bronx, will spend her residency developing new works and engaging with the local community.

Cato’s work spans theatre, film, and radio, blending her Afro-Latinx roots with her experiences growing up in New York City. She has received national recognition for her compelling storytelling, with notable works including Stoop Pigeons, Sancocho, and Homecoming. Her work frequently explores themes of identity, gentrification, and cultural heritage, and she is a member of several prestigious organizations such as the Latinx Playwrights Circle and the Dramatists Guild of America.

Cato’s residency at the William Inge Center offers the opportunity for community members, students, and local artists to engage with her through workshops, readings, and special events.

The William Inge Center for the Arts, located at Independence Community College, has long been recognized as a nurturing space for playwrights to develop new work, and the Inge Playwright-In-Residence program provides a unique opportunity for playwrights to immerse themselves in a creative environment.
