ICC to hold open session for public during accreditation visit April 25

Independence, Kansas – April 10, 2017 - Independence Community College (ICC) will host a site visit from The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) later this month on the college’s main campus as part of the school’s accreditation. During this three day visit, the college will hold one public session, to which members of the community are invited to attend.

The public session will be on Tuesday, April 25 at 8 a.m. in the Cyber Café, located on the second floor of the Student Union.

HLC is an independent corporation that was founded in 1895 as one of six regional institutional accreditors in the United States. HLC accredits degree-granting post-secondary educational institutions in the North Central region, which covers 19 states, including Kansas.

Independence Community College is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission. ICC was granted accreditation in 1957 and received reaffirmation of accreditation during the 2009/10 academic school year. The HLC site visitors will review the institution’s ongoing ability to meet the criteria for accreditation.

All members of the public are invited to attend the Tuesday morning session, but seating is limited.
