ICC to host Kansas collegiate forensics championship in 2018

Independence, Kansas—March 6, 2017—Independence Community College (ICC) has been designated the host school for the Kansas Collegiate Speech Championship known as the Kansas State Individual Event Tournament (KASIE) for 2018.

 

Collegiate speech and debate program directors from Kansas State University, Bethel College, Ottawa University, Kansas Wesleyan University, and Friends University met at in Ottawa, Kansas to discuss the future of the Kansas forensics association, where the committee voted to hold the 2018 competition at the main campus of Independence Community College.

 

ICC will host the state championship will be held on February 10, 2018.

 

At the same meeting, ICC’s speech and debate assistant coach, Brad Henderson was nominated and appointed Vice President of KASIE.

Henderson will work with KASIE’s new president, Ryan Louis, Forensics Director at Ottawa University. Louis succeeded Malory Marsh from Bethel College in Bethel, KS.

Henderson’s appointment means he will succeed Louis as the president of KASIE after the 2018 season.

The ICC speech and debate team will wrap up their 2016/17 season with a trip to the national championship tournament in Pensacola, Florida on March 10.
