After a season that saw an eleven win improvement in only his second year at the helm, Independence Men’s Basketball Coach Jai Steadman will look to further his impact in the JUCO world as he has been selected as one of the coaches for the JA48 event in July.
The JA48 is one of the most prestigious basketball events in the country, as it features 48 of the nations top junior college basketball players annually. This year's event will take place on July 10-11 in Richmond, Virginia.
The JA48 serves as a major recruiting event for not only the top junior college athletes, but for Division I programs all over the country.
Steadman is one of six coaches selected, along with Kevon Davis of Yavapai College, Rian Stubbs of Odessa, Joe Kuligoski of Panola, Brad Witherspoon of fellow region six foe Dodge City, and Cameron Turner from Eastern Arizona.
Coach Steadman will be joined by Indy’s Trashaun Combs-Pierce who will be participating as a player. Combs-Pierce is coming off a fantastic freshman season where he averaged 11.6 points per game and 7.8 rebounds per game, making his mark as one of the highest sought out JUCO sophomores this upcoming year.
Steadman brings a wealth of coaching experience across multiple levels from JUCO to the NBA G League, and will be a great resource for Junior College athletes looking to take the next step in their athletic careers.
