ICC is proud to announce a new partnership with Simply Hygiene, a Wichita, KS-based organization dedicated to providing essential hygiene products to those in need. This collaboration will result in monthly donations of hair care, deodorant, soap, laundry soap, lotion, soap/body wash, and other items like toothbrushes, hairbrushes, and bath supplies for low-income students, which will be featured in the ICC Pirate Pantry.
The rising cost of basic hygiene products can create a significant burden for students, particularly those with limited financial resources. This partnership aims to alleviate that burden and ensure that all ICC students have access to the essential items they need to maintain their health and well-being.
"With the rising cost of basics like shampoo and body wash among other products, students can spend upward of $10-$15 for one item of needed hygiene care out of 6 different products needed," stated Amy Loskota, Director for Student Support Services, at ICC. "Simply Hygiene is helping food pantries, schools, and colleges in Kansas close that gap for low-income students who while working hard to secure trade certifications and AA/AS degrees to transfer are also working full-time jobs while attending school, attempting to be their best in Division III Athletics, or trying to make ends meet supporting their family while improving their income outcomes by education! We are very thankful for this partnership and know it will help to make the hardest working students in Montgomery County happier and healthier!"
ICC's Student Success Services and Student Life are excited to be members of the Simply Hygiene network and are committed to ensuring that students are clean, healthy, and happy every day of their studies. The Pirate Pantry will serve as the distribution point for these essential items, providing a convenient and accessible resource for students in need.
