Independence Community College (ICC) is pleased to announce the promotion of Laura Jamison to the position of Admissions Manager. In this role, Jamison will oversee college applications and supervise the academic advising team.
"I am incredibly excited to step into the role of Admissions Manager at ICC,” explained Jamison. “Having been a part of the ICC family for several years, I've had the opportunity to learn and grow alongside our students and faculty. I look forward to using everything I've learned during my time here – from academic advising to student support – to give back to the students in the community I love so much.”
Jamison brings a wealth of experience to the position, having served in various roles at ICC since 2019. Most recently, she served as a Success Coach/Academic Advisor from August 2022 to February 2025, where she effectively communicated with students, provided high-level customer service, and demonstrated a strong ability to retain students. Prior to that, she held positions as Navigator and Academic Outreach Specialist, where she maintained advising files, notified students of scholarship opportunities, processed concurrent student college applications, and attended Kansas Works partnership meetings. She also served as an Administrative Assistant, greeting visitors, administering state tests, and acting as a liaison for both campus locations.
Jamison holds a Bachelor of Science in Tourism and Hospitality Management from Fort Hays State University (May 2024) and an Associate of Science in Liberal Studies from Independence Community College (May 2014). She is also a graduate of Leadership Independence (2024).
"Laura’s move into this role is a significant win for ICC,” said Tyler Allen, Director of Enrollment and Retention Management at ICC. “Her skills and comprehensive knowledge of our systems and programs will be a tremendous asset to both the department and the college as a whole. We are thrilled to see her step into this leadership position."
“My goal is to make the admissions process as seamless and supportive as possible,” Jamison concluded. “Ensuring that every student has the opportunity to achieve their academic dreams right here at ICC."
