At Independence Community College, we prioritize transparency and timely communication regarding important matters that affect our students and programing. Today, we want to share an important update concerning the recent implementation of the White House Office of Management and Budget Memorandum M-25-13, which impacts federal loans, grants, and financial assistance initiatives.

While the full implications of this memorandum will not be fully understood until after February 10, 2025, we have received important information from the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA). The Department of Education issued an official clarification today that confirms Title IV Student Financial Aid programs—including Pell Grants and Direct Student Loans—are exempt from the funding freeze.

We want to reassure our campus community that there will be no major disruptions to the processing of Student Financial Aid or the enrollment of students. Our dedicated campus teams remain focused on supporting your success.

We will provide updates as more information becomes available.
