The Theatre Department is excited to partner with Neewollah to present its upcoming production of Elf the Musical, directed by Paul Molnar, for Neewollah 2024. The performances will take place from October 18–20 at Memorial Hall.
This festive, family-friendly musical is adapted from the beloved 2003 holiday film Elf, which follows the story of Buddy, a human raised by elves at the North Pole, as he travels to New York City in search of his real family and spreads Christmas cheer along the way. With its lively humor and heartwarming themes, Elf the Musical promises to be a delightful experience for audiences of all ages.
“The partnership between ICC Theatre and Neewollah has been fantastic this year,” said Paul Molnar, Director of Theatre Performance at ICC. “Involving both our technical and performance students has brought an invaluable educational element to the production. Our students have gained hands-on experience working in a larger space and collaborating with a more diverse group of people, giving them a fresh perspective. I’m grateful we had the chance to build the set at ICC, showcase our students in leading roles, allow them to design for a bigger stage, and work alongside local artists to bring Elf the Musical to life.”
All performances will be held at Memorial Hall in Independence, KS, with tickets available through the Neewollah website: www.neewollah.com/events/ticketed-events.
“Neewollah is one of the biggest events in Independence,” Molnar added. “Building a connection between ICC and the incredible group of producers and volunteers is a wonderful way for the college to give back to the community—an experience that aligns perfectly with the core of the college’s mission.”
