Indy Athletics is pleased to announce the addition of Shavonda Price to the Pirate coaching staff for the Women’s Basketball program. With a rich background in collegiate athletics, Price brings a wealth of experience, leadership, and a proven track record of success to the ICC Women’s Basketball team.
A native of New York City, Price comes to ICC following a one-year tenure at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). Prior to UIC, Price was the head coach at Southeastern Community College (Iowa) and held two stints as an assistant coach at Iowa Western Community College (IWCC). During the 2021-22 season at IWCC, she helped lead the Reivers to a national ranking as high as eighth and an overall record of 22-8. In the 2016-17 season, the team captured the Region XI and District K titles, earning a berth in the National Tournament.
Price also coached two years at Central Methodist University (CMU), where she guided the Eagles to the NAIA quarterfinals in 2018-19. During her time at CMU, she developed three All-Americans and helped the program achieve a remarkable 51-14 record over two seasons.
Price’s accomplishments on the court are mirrored by her successful playing career. She played two seasons at Defiance College, where she led the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) in steals and ranked among the top in blocks, scoring, and rebounding. After her time at Defiance, she transferred to Johnson C. Smith University, where she continued to excel on the court, finishing as a team leader in several statistical categories.
In addition to her coaching accolades, Price boasts an impressive academic background. She earned a Master of Education in Athletic Administration from Central Methodist University in 2020 and a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Johnson C. Smith University in 2013, graduating magna cum laude.
