National Student Clearinghouse Update

National Student Clearinghouse (NSC), the largest provider of postsecondary transcript services, recently experienced a security breach affecting several higher education institutions. This could include Independence Community College, which uses NSC for enrollment certifications and transcripts. No systems operated by Independence Community College were breached. NSC is investigating the breach's extent and impact on ICC students, who may have had personally identifiable information compromised. NSC will notify affected students once the investigation is complete.

As the breach involves multiple organizations nationwide, the investigation may take time. NSC is working to expedite the process and provide timely information. Meanwhile, we advise taking precautions:

  • Monitor credit cards and bank accounts.
  • Be cautious of suspicious emails or communications.
  • Update passwords and enable Multifactor Authentication (MFA).
