Fine Arts Holds Student Recitals

ICC showcased students at the 2023 Applied Vocal and Instrumental Lessons Student Recital on Friday April 28th.

"The Instrumental Music Students have had a beautiful semester of growth. We are so proud of their work this semester in the classroom, the practice room, and on the stage,” said Bridget Carson, Interim Director of Instrumental Music. “They've grown in their technique and musicianship moving toward their goals, many of them building portfolios of audition repertoire towards their transfer schools of choice.”

This semester has included heavy musical hitters as J.S. Bach, G.F. Handel, A. Corelli, C.P.E. Bach, P. Granger, O. Rieding, E. Bozza, and arrangements of traditional songs.

"The Vocal Music students have worked extremely hard and diligently this semester. Kaya and Brin, vocal music majors, have been disciplined and steadfast in their musical and expressive qualities. I am extremely proud to have personally witnessed their growth and final performances. Featuring Baroque and Romantic styles, the musicality and expressiveness were pronounced throughout it all!"

The recital is one of the last performances wrapping up the Fine Arts season.

“There's one more chance to see them play this semester on May 7th at 2 p.m. on the Choir and Concert Band Concert in the Inge Theatre,” concludes Carson.  “We hope to see many of our students perform, as schedules allow, with the MidContinent Band this summer, and we're looking forward to the music we'll make with both new and returning students in the 23-24 Academic Year."
