ICC Choral and Orchestra Concert on March 9

The ICC Fine Arts Department invites the public to the joint Choir and Orchestra Concert on March 9 at 7:00 pm at the Independence Historical Museum and Art Center; free admission.

The choir will feature current songs from composers Victor Johnson and Mark Miller. To earlier 21st-century choral classics from choral pedagogues Sally Albrecht and Linda Spevacek.

"This concert will have a consistent flow of authenticity and unfathomable energy," explains Zachary Cooke, Vocal Music Director. "Following an amazing joint concert with the ICC Orchestra in November, it is once again exciting to share the stage with a wonderful director, musician, and colleague Professor Bridget Carson. Both the Chorale and Chamber Singers will present works that speak to the very essence of human emotion while encouraging and lifting the community in a positive light. We will end with an emphatic joint selection with the Orchestra symbolizing unity, musicianship, and community gathering to the city of Independence!"

"We truly have a little something for everyone with themes from Rimsky-Korsakov's Scherezade, an adventurous work by living American composer Soon Hee Newbold," concluded Bridget Carson, Interim Professor of Instrumental Music and Interim Director of Instrumental Music. "A beautiful transcription of American composer Florance B. Price's The Old Boatman, a string orchestra setting of band Munford and Sons' Sigh No More, and a joyous combined work with the choir. Come join us for a great evening of music!"
