Pirates Recognized at NASPA Region IV-WE Joint Conference

ICC attended the NASPA (Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education) Region IV-WE Joint Conference in Chicago, IL, on November 6-8. The Pirates were honored in three categories, with staff representing three departments across campus.

Honorees Included:
Cherie Stockton: Support Staff of the Year Award
Laura Jamison: Community College Professional of the Year Award
Innovative Program: The Price is Right, Laura Allison

"Cherie consistently 'Models The Way' with her positive attitude, overall commitment, and support for student success," said David Adams, Vice President for Student Affairs. "And Laura Jamison takes the time to know the students in her caseload and finds ways to support their success."

ICC's annual Price is Right: Financial Literacy Event, the brainchild of ICC's Laura Allison, won The Innovative Program Award. The event took place in April of 2022 and invited area high school students to learn about personal finances, scholarships, and college in a fun interactive 'Price is Right' format.

"In almost 20 years of working in Higher Education, I have never seen a Financial Literacy program as exciting as ICC's The Price is Right," said Adams. "Laura Allison does an incredible job teaching the students about Financial Aid, Money Management, and some info on College 101."

Contestants from each school had the opportunity to submit price estimates on various baskets full of common everyday items. The player who submitted the closest bid to the actual retail price of that basket without going over moved on to the next round.

"I am continually impressed with the work ethic and care for our students our team at ICC has," concluded Adams. "I am so happy this team was recognized for their hard efforts; they could not be more deserving."
