Board Votes, 4-0, Naming Anderson Athletic Director

Melissa Anderson

The ICC Board of Trustees voted for Melissa Anderson as the Athletic Director at the October Board Meeting. The vote passed 4-0 after a requested Executive Session to discuss personnel matters.

Anderson assumed the position of Interim Athletic Director in June 2022 alongside her role as Head Volleyball Coach. She earned her Master's in Education, emphasizing in Sports Administration, and her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from East Central University.

"Coach Anderson has been dedicated to student success on and off the court for over a decade," explained Dr. Vincent Bowhay, College President. "Her passion for our students and community made her the right choice for Indy."

Anderson joined the Pirate family in 2021 as Head Volleyball Coach. She previously served as a JUCO and NCAA Division II Head Coach at Otero Junior College and East Central University. At Otero Junior College, Anderson notched 177 total wins over eight seasons, registering five seasons with 19 or more wins. She also produced 19 All-Region players, 42 All-Region Academic players, and 9 Academic All-Americans while maintaining a 3.14 team GPA in La Junta, Colorado.

"I would like to thank Dr. Bowhay, Dr. Sadhoo, and the entire board of trustees for their confidence in me to lead Pirate athletics to the next level," said Anderson after last night's board meeting. "I truly believe in the mission of ICC and want to help our student-athletes reach new heights both academically and athletically."
