Independence Community College is pleased to announce the newest addition to our tree campus inventory, the Maple Red Sunset Tree. A tree-planting ceremony took place on the ICC Main Campus on April 29, 2022.
The Maple Red Sunset tree is known best for its early fall color. The glossy green leaves provide a very dynamic show, as they turn a brilliant orange scarlet when temperatures begin to cool. This large deciduous tree has a pyramidal form when young that becomes rounded with age, an excellent choice for use as a high-profile shade tree in more significant landscapes.
“Our campus community is excited to plant the Red Sunset Maple tree on campus,” explained David Adams, Vice President for Student Affairs. “Through this planting, we are also celebrating Arbor Day’s 150 birthday and honoring the memory of Khalil Fulton.”
