COD Esports Team Dominant in Ranked Matches

With finals a mere month away, students across the campus of ICC are as focused as ever. Attending classes, working hard in study halls, and preparing to end their semester on a high note, they’re putting in the time to make sure the next month of their lives is one worth celebrating.

The Independence Esports Call of Duty team decided to get a head start on their own success. They’ve dominated the early rounds of the CCL tournament, making a name for themselves and cashing in on all their hard work so far this season.

On Tuesday, April 5th, the #9 ICC COD team played the #8 and #12 seeds in the West CCL bracket, winning both matches in dominating fashion. The Pirates defeated the #8 Southeastern University Fire 3-0, and the #12 seed Texas State Bobcats 3-1. To cap off the evening, Indy beat the University of Central Florida 3-0in NACE play.

Competing at a level against much larger universities, the #9 seed Pirates sport a record of 15-2. The CCL utilizes the game Call of Duty Vanguard, recently released for Xbox, PlayStation, and PC this past November. Teams compete in a variety of game modes such as Hard Point, Search and Destroy, and Control, aiming to score more points than their opponent. After each round the teams compete in a new game type, meaning every player must be flexible and prepared for anything.

The Pirates look to play the overall #1 seed Bay State Bulldogs tonight. With fanfare, acclaim, and momentum on the line, it looks to be a highly competitive match.
