Community Enjoys Papermaking Class Through Indy Connect

Independence community members joined ICC’s Associate Professor and Director of Visual Arts, Emily Ritter, Saturday, February 12, 2022, for a Papermaking workshop offered through Indy Connect. Those in attendance learned how to create sheets of paper from scrap paper or junk mail in a DIY fashion with accessible materials.

“DIY Papermaking is a great way to turn all your junk mail into new paper,” explains Ritter. “Trash to treasure. It is also a great activity for kids and people of all ages, especially during summer. We had a blast during the workshop, and I can’t wait to offer it again!”

Ritter guided participants through papermaking, including blending, creating pulp, and forming sheets. This process can also be used to make pulp art.
