ICC Hosts Diversity in Tech Ed Day on February 11

ICC invites high school students to Diversity in Tech Ed Day, February 11, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at ICC West Campus. Students can explore various technical program options while speaking to program directors and current students. A representative from Kansas Works will also be present.

“I am excited to be able to put together an event to showcase our Careers in Technical Education programs to a diverse population of potential students,” said Jaicey Gillum, Executive Director for Academic Outreach. “It is important for students to know the variety of options Independence has to offer.”

An emphasis of this event is showcasing supportive services to students of special populations. Special population refers to students who must overcome barriers requiring special consideration and attention.

“Data shows that students of special populations require more information and guidance when it comes to deciding on a college program,” said Gillum. “We are hoping to bridge the gap and provide them with the resources they need to be successful while attending ICC.”
