Independence Community College is excited to be designated as a 2021-2022 Great Place to Work®. Great Place to Work is an independent research and consulting firm and its certification process considers more than 60 elements of overall job experience across ICC faculty and staff.
“The Great Place to Work certification recognizes ICC's ongoing commitment to our employees,” said Dr. Vincent Bowhay, ICC President. “We are proud to invest in their well-being and promote their professional development as a part of the Pirate experience.”
Employees completed the program's signature Trust Index© Survey that covered a variety of workplace quality experiences, including employee pride in the organization's community impact, belief that their work makes a difference, and feeling their work has special meaning. Survey results showed that 74% of employees that completed the survey say, they believe that ICC is a great place to work. This is 15% higher than the national average.
Highlights from the survey include:
· 85 percent feel they can take time off from work when they think it’s necessary.
· 82 percent believe their work has special meaning and is not "just a job."
· 81 percent feel a sense of pride when they look at what the company has accomplished.
· 81 percent feel good about the ways they contribute to the community.
Rankings are based on employees’ experiences, regardless of title. Within the survey, employees had the opportunity to give personal feedback regarding what they feel can be improved on in the future. Participation in the project was led by Lori Boots, Vice President for Human Resources at ICC.
“We continue to stay committed to providing an environment where students can achieve academic and personal success and where our faculty and staff can achieve their best work while promoting the mission and vision of the College,” said Bowhay.
