Cody Westerhold, Director of Student Life at Independence Community College, was selected as the NASPA IV-W Community College Professional of the Year. NASPA (Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education) is an organization that is dedicated to fulfilling higher education goals through guiding principles of integrity, innovation, inclusion, and inquiry.
“I am very honored to have been selected for this award,” said Westerhold. “The truth is this is not an award someone can win without the support of everyone in the pirate family. I am extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to work at a college that allows me to make a positive impact on so many levels.”
This award is presented to individuals how have demonstrated leadership and commitment to the profession while at a community college. Award nominees were required to have a record of contributions towards innovative services and programs that address student needs and at least five years of experience in Student Affairs.
“It is an honor to work with Cody and I am so happy he is the recipient of this year’s award,” said David Adams, Vice President for Student Affairs. “ICC benefits from his leadership, care, and persistence to promote student success and overall professional demeanor.”
Westerhold has been a member of the Pirate family since 2015.
