ICC theatre professor featured in Lifetime movie

Join us November 25 at 6 p.m. in the William Inge Theatre to see Dr. Page Petrucka in the world premiere of "Jingle Belle."

One of Independence Community College’s own theatre instructors will soon be featured in a Lifetime Movies holiday release, and the public is invited to the ICC campus to watch the world premiere.

Dr. Page Petrucka, who joined the ICC staff this year as associate professor of theatre, will play the role of Sandra in Jingle Belle, a classic holiday movie romance, airing Sunday, November 25, on Lifetime. The community is invited a pre-movie wine and cheese reception, including a meet-and-greet opportunity with Dr. Petrucka at 6 p.m., followed by the movie showing at 7 p.m. in the William Inge Theater.

An accomplished actress, playwright, and scholar, Petrucka has played various roles in films on the Hallmark channel, including A Christmas Wish, Christmas Under Wraps, Love Everlasting, and Small Town Crime.

Petrucka’s theatrical credits include, The Calendar, Our Town, As You Like It, Beauty and the Beast, You Can’t Take It With You, Much Ado About Nothing, and Pride and Prejudice.

"To me, one of the most important things about theatre is the empathy and understanding stories can create for those who are open to the experience,” Petrucka said. “When we set aside societal judgments and exhaustive stereotypes and embrace differences by learning of others triumphs and sorrows, we can only become better people, and that's exactly what this world needs right now."

She has participated in multiple theater festivals, and is an accomplished playwright, authoring Vendetta Day, The Beauty of Affirming, The Calendar, and The Hopeful, Peaceful Pixel of My Genuinely Lived Life.

Prior to accepting the theater position at ICC, Petrucka taught at Utah Valley University and Brigham Young University.

Her dissertation, Rewriting the Single Woman’s Narrative in Two Original Scripts, earned her a PhD in Fine Arts, Acting/Playwrighting from Texas Tech University. She also has a Master of Arts in Theater from Utah State University and a Bachelor of Science from Southern Utah University.
