Independence, Kansas, September 25, 2017—Independence Community College (ICC) will hold its annual International Flag day ceremony at noon on Friday, October 6 at ICC’s main campus near the fountain. The ceremony recognizes and celebrates the diversity and international presence on campus.

Donna Kiister, International Admissions Specialist, says that there is a growing international presence on campus and believes that it is important to recognize the contributions of these students.

“It is my desire that each international student take home wonderful memories of their time here and this ceremony will be one of them,” said Kiister.

The ceremony features international students raising their countries’ flags along ICC’s Avenue of Flags—a walkway connecting the fine arts center to the student union, which is home to the International Student Organization.

The event will take place in the center of the main campus, just outside the Student Union. There ceremony will feature guest speakers from the community and an international-themed lunch. Members of the college and community are invited to attend this free event.
