Scott named NJCAA Offensive Player of the Week

Jamal Scott, sophomore Running Back at Independence Community College

Independence, Kansas—September 18, 2017—Running back Jamal Scott, a sophomore at Independence Community College has been named the Offensive Player of the Week  by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) for his week three performance in the Pirates upset win over Garden City Community College.

Scott finished the night with 180 rushing yards and two touchdowns and was instrumental in the Pirates 27-23 victory at Shulthis stadium during the Sept 9 matchup between ICC and Garden City the defending national champions.

 The win moved ICC to 2-1 on the season. The Pirates come off a bye-week to face Iowa Central Community College on the road, followed by another away game at Dodge City, before returning home to host Ellsworth Community College in Independence on Oct 7.

The latest NJCAA poll has the Pirates ranked number 13 in the country.
