Local Industry Leaders Speak to Students on Professional Opportunities

Independence Community College welcomes representatives from John Deere and Cobalt Boats to talk to students about various components of the professional world. John Deere will be on campus on March 30 from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm. Cobalt Boats will be on campus on April 7, from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm. Both speakers will be in AC 132, and lunch will be provided to those in attendance.

"For many students, the associate's degree they receive from Independence Community College may be a terminal degree," explained Courtlynn Rose, Academic Success Center Coordinator." With that in mind, it is beneficial for our students to be aware of and acquainted with career opportunities in our area."

Students will be learning about resumes, cover letters, professional dress, internships, and job opportunities within their respective companies.

"Both companies have been great industry leaders in Southeast Kansas for many years," said Rose. "The prospect of students learning a skill and trade will help them be marketable. John Deere and Cobalt having locations nationwide will allow our students to either stay local or cast their nets for employment very wide."
