“Looking to complete a Bachelors of Fine Arts on your way to becoming a professional actor or technical director? Co e hone your skills with us to craft an advantage when you transfer,” said Mydosh. “ICC is a place where you can choose your own path, now more than ever before.”

What is the Difference?

Associate of Fine Arts in Theatre Performance

This degree is beneficial for students interested in acting, movement, stage combat, and/or voice. After completing the AFA at ICC, students can transfer to get their Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree.

“The AFA in Theatre Performance is the gateway for the student who wants to transfer into a BFA program at a four-year college or university,” said Paul Molnar, Associate Professor of Theatre at ICC.  “A  tailed dive into acting, voice, and movement for the stage is the core of this degree. The training the students get in the classroom will be used on multiple performance opportunities throughout the two years.  Eight fully produced plays and musicals guarantee many opportunities for lead roles and varied casting challenges while earning the AFA here with us at ICC.”

Associate of Fine Arts in Technical Theatre

This degree is beneficial for students interested in scenic, lighting, sound, or costume design. After completing the AFA at ICC, students can transfer to get their Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree.

“Whether you want to become a designer, a technician, a stage manager, or a technical director, the AFA in Technical Theatre is designed to give you the skills and knowledge needed to be successful backstage,” said Joel Williams, Associate Professor of Technical Theatre. “Students can take what they have learned and go directly into the job market or transfer seamlessly into a BFA program.”
