Broadway musician to be featured at The Glass Menagerie performance

Live, original music highlights the poetry of the Tennessee Williams classic play “The Glass Menagerie," taking stage at Independence Community College Dec. 6-7 at 7 p.m., and Sunday Dec. 8 at 2 p.m.

Inge House Guest Artist Alexander Sovronsksy, who has written music for many Broadway, off-Broadway, and regional shows, will play live music to Williams’ tale about a mother, son, and daughter facing challenges of life during hard times.

Sovronsky’s professional highlights include composing and performing the live music for the Broadway production of “Cyrano de Bergerac,” with Kevin Kline and Jennifer Garner, creating the original music for “Mother of the Maid,” starring Glenn Close at The Public Theatre, and playing the title role of productions of “Hamlet” in New York and Milan, Italy.

ICC theater instructor Paul Molnar directs the cast of ICC students: Mylee Cronin, Kierra Kellum, Christian Lucas, and Tyler Ridgeway.

Tickets are $7 general, $5 students/youth, and free to ICC students and staff.

The ICC Theater season continues with the inspiring tale “Silent Sky” (March 7-9) and the musical “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change” (May 1-3.)
