Payment Policy

Students must be paid in full on all accounts with the College prior to the first day of class each semester.

Beginning with registration each semester, tuition, fees, and other charges not covered by financial aid will be due and payable by the first day of class.

If a student leaves the College with unpaid accounts, his/her academic records will be withheld, and no transcript of record or academic recommendation will be issued until the account is paid in full.

Students who fail to pay by the first day of class will be dropped from all classes.

Late enrollment: Students who enroll or add classes after the first day of class, are expected to make payment in full at the time of enrollment.

Charges will be assessed for non-return of rental books, library books, equipment checked out to student, or athletic items determined by the appropriate coach for student athletes.

Holds will also be placed on student accounts for other financial obligations to the college (i.e., unpaid student housing or payments due to a student organization for travel expenses)

Holds will be placed on records (transcripts) of students for not completing Financial Aid Exit Counseling.

Balances more than 6 months past due will be sent to collections.
Billing Policies
All students enrolling in courses at Independence Community College agree to pay the costs associated with the course(s), including but not limited to, tuition, fees, meal plans, housing costs, consumables, and course fees.
Students who are enrolled in courses after the last day to drop courses are responsible for the charges, even if they do not attend class after the last day to drop courses and regardless of the grade earned in the course. Students must understand and comply with all requirements to drop courses from their schedule.
All charges are final after ninety (90) days from the date the charges and/or credits appear on your account. After ninety (90) days, all charges and/or credits are final and will not be adjusted.
Financial Aid Deferment

Students who have awarded (fully completed) financial aid will receive a deferment of all expenses covered by the aid until aid is processed that semester.

Only awarded financial aid will be considered in the balance due.

Awarded financial aid means all documents have been submitted to financial aid, reviewed, and approved for disbursement.

Awarded aid status must be obtained prior to the first day of classes to be considered for deferment.

Any tuition/fee/expenses beyond awarded aid must be paid in full by the first day of classes.
Student Employment

All students participating in the Student Labor program must have settled accounts prior to the first day of the semester.

Outstanding balances owed by the student will be deducted from the student paycheck.
-
Awarded financial aid will be considered in balance owed.

Students will be allowed to retain 20% of their total monthly pay.
Third Party Billing Deferment

Students whose employer or other business or government entity has agreed to pay the College for their tuition/fees/expenses may be exempt from payment provided they have completed the necessary forms required by their employer or other representative, have been verified by their employer, or other representative as having qualified for “Third Party Billing Deferment”, and whose employer, or other representative has provided sufficient written documentation of such to the College prior to the first day of class for the semester of enrollment.
Insufficient Funds

Insufficient funds or stop-payment checks are considered non-payment.

An insufficient funds fee will be charged to the student account.
Future Enrollment

Students who owe a balance less than $200 and are current within 60 days will be allowed to enroll for the next semester.
Estimated Cost of Attendance
This cost of attendance defines a student's Federal Student Aid Budget when our office calculates eligibility for Federal Direct Student Loans, Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant (FSEOG), and Federal Work-Study.
