About Music
The Associate of Arts with a Concentration in Music with either a Vocal or Instrumental focus is designed to prepare students for transfer to a four-year institution prepared to enter a music program as a junior or to enter the workforce in employment requiring an associate degree. The Music Department provides General Education courses in Music Appreciation and Music Theory I in addition to activity courses for lessons and ensembles that enrich the full humanity of our students and community members.
Why ICC?
With multiple full-size ensembles, specifically Chorale, Concert Band, Orchestra, Jazz Band, Drum Line, and Athletic Band, ICC offers students the opportunity to play beside community members who have a wealth of lived experience as musicians. Features and solos are available to students in their freshman and sophomore years here, as opposed to waiting until senior year the way it would be in a university program. ICC offers small class sizes and an individualized approach to coursework and musicianship, meeting students where they are and making music together for the benefit of all.
