Independence Community College (ICC) proudly recognized Trashaun Combs-Pierce as the September Student of the Month during Monday night’s ICC Board of Trustees meeting. The honor was presented by David Adams, Vice President for Student Affairs.

Trashaun, a standout member of the ICC Men’s Basketball team, has demonstrated remarkable growth both on and off the court. His nominator highlighted his achievements, sharing that “Trashaun has improved both in the classroom and on the basketball court at Independence CC.”

Since joining ICC, Trashaun has continued to excel academically while elevating his performance as an athlete. This summer, he attended a variety of basketball camps and elite events, including the JA48, which showcases the nation’s top 48 returning JUCO basketball players. His hard work and talent secured him a spot at the JA Champions event, featuring the top 18 JUCO players nationwide.

In addition to his academic and athletic accomplishments, Trashaun also gave back to the sport by working as a youth basketball referee during summer tournaments. His dedication and discipline have garnered attention from several Division I programs, with schools in the SEC and Big 10 actively recruiting him.

“Trashaun’s commitment to excellence in the classroom, on the court, and in the community reflects the spirit of ICC and what it means to be a Pirate,” said Adams. “We are proud to honor him as Student of the Month.”
