During the Independence Community College (ICC) Board of Trustees meeting on Monday, October 20, ICC President Dr. Jonathan Sadhoo announced his resignation, effective December 31, 2025.

“It has been an incredible privilege to call ICC my home for the past six years,” said Dr. Sadhoo. “The people who make up this college, our students, faculty, staff, and community partners, represent the best of what higher education can be. Together, we have accomplished so much, and I am deeply grateful to have played a part in ICC’s ongoing story of growth and success.”

Dr. Sadhoo joined ICC in 2019 as Vice President for Administration & Finance and Chief Financial Officer. He later served as Interim President beginning in May 2024 and was officially appointed President in March 2025. During his tenure, Dr. Sadhoo has overseen key building improvements, implemented a new student records system, launched the Tuition-Free Program for City Employees, and strengthened campus safety and security initiatives.

Under his leadership, ICC has continued to expand both its academic and community reach. The College has launched new programs such as the Industrial Maintenance Technology degree and the Nail Technician certification, providing students with valuable workforce opportunities. At the ICC West campus, Dr. Sadhoo introduced a site-sharing initiative with KansasWorks and Four County Mental Health, broadening access to resources for students and the local community. His administration also secured the ADOPT Grant to expand technology access for rural Kansas students and developed a partnership with Kansas City University through the Rural Health Scholars Program, which supports future healthcare professionals.

Beyond academics, Dr. Sadhoo championed initiatives that strengthened community engagement, including the expansion of family-friendly events such as the Pirate Harvest Festival, Pirates in the Park, and Dads & Dos. His focus on student and community connections helped ICC earn the Military Friendly® School Silver Designation for 2025–2026, a recognition of the College’s ongoing commitment to supporting veteran and military-affiliated students.

“On behalf of the Board of Trustees, we extend our sincere gratitude to Dr. Sadhoo for his leadership and dedication to Independence Community College,” said Cynthia Sherwood, Chair of the ICC Board of Trustees. “His commitment to student success, innovation, and community connection has guided ICC through meaningful progress. We thank him for his service and wish him continued success in his future endeavors.”

The Board of Trustees will begin the presidential search process, which will be a nationwide search, in the coming weeks. Additional information about the search will be made available through official ICC communications and shared publicly during upcoming board meetings.
