The Independence Community College (ICC) Board of Trustees has announced the appointment of Taylor Crawshaw, Vice President for Academic Affairs, as Interim President, effective December 1, 2025. This decision follows the resignation of Dr. Jonathan Sadhoo, who has served as ICC’s President since March 2025.

Crawshaw has been a vital part of ICC’s leadership team since 2014, serving in a variety of academic and administrative roles that have strengthened the institution’s commitment to excellence, access, and innovation. Over her decade of service, she has led initiatives that expanded academic opportunities, improved student support systems, and enhanced the College’s connection to workforce development across Southeast Kansas.

“Taylor’s deep understanding of ICC’s mission, her strong relationships with faculty and staff, and her proven leadership make her exceptionally well-suited to guide the College during this period of transition,” said Cynthia Sherwood, Chair of the ICC Board of Trustees. “Her focus on student success, innovation, and expanding programs that align with our region’s workforce needs will ensure that ICC continues to move forward with purpose, stability, and a clear vision for the future.”

As Vice President for Academic Affairs, Crawshaw has overseen the College’s academic divisions, faculty, and institutional accreditation efforts. Under her leadership, ICC has secured more than $3 million in U.S. Department of Education funding through the Rural Postsecondary and Economic Development (RPED) grant program, expanding opportunities for rural students and strengthening pathways between education and industry.

A respected leader within Kansas higher education, Crawshaw was selected in 2021 as one of only 20 administrators statewide to participate in the Kansas Community College Leadership Institute (KCCLI), a nine-month program designed to cultivate leadership and innovation across the state’s community college system. Participants met monthly to explore emerging issues in higher education, develop strategic leadership skills, and collaborate on statewide initiatives.

Crawshaw’s impact extends well beyond campus. She and her husband, Alfred, were recognized in 2023 among Farm Talk’s “40 Under 40” highlighting their contributions to agriculture, rural development, and community advocacy. She also is a part of the Independence Rotary Club and serves on the Liberty Community Church Outreach Committee.

Before her appointment as Vice President, Crawshaw held a series of key positions at ICC  including Associate Dean for Academic Support Services, Dean for Tutoring and Accessibility, and Vice President for Academic Affairs, demonstrating a longstanding commitment to student success and institutional growth.

Crawshaw is currently completing her Doctor of Education in Leadership in Higher Education at Baker University. She also holds a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Pittsburg State University, a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Missouri State University, and an Associate of Science degree from Coffeyville Community College.

“I am honored to serve the ICC community in this capacity,” Crawshaw said. “This college has a proud history of innovation, community engagement, and student success. As we look toward the future, I’m committed to continuing to grow and strengthen our academic and athletic programs while deepening ICC’s connection to our local and surrounding communities. Together with our dedicated faculty and staff, we will build on the momentum that has made ICC a cornerstone of opportunity and excellence in Southeast Kansas.”

The Board of Trustees will begin the presidential search process, which will be a nationwide search, in the coming weeks. Additional information about the search will be made available through official ICC communications and shared publicly during upcoming board meetings.
