Vincent Bowhay, Ed.D.
Dr. Vincent Bowhay was named President of Independence Community College on April 9, 2021, after serving as the Vice President for Student Affairs.
Since his arrival at the College, Dr. Bowhay has worked to provide stable leadership throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. He has directed the launch of several new initiatives, including esports, the Veteran Student Success Center, and virtual healthcare for students, faculty, and staff. Dr. Bowhay is passionate about student success and is deeply committed to promoting the mission of Independence Community College on campus, in Independence, and beyond.
Prior to his arrival at Independence Community College, Dr. Bowhay served as Career Development Director at Missouri Western State University. Dr. Bowhay began his career in campus activities at Fort Hays State University. While working for Campus Labs, an educational technology and assessment company, Dr. Bowhay oversaw assessment and accreditation efforts at hundreds of institutions in the HLC and WASC accrediting regions.
Dr. Bowhay grew up in Hoyt, Kansas, graduated from Royal Valley High School and has family in the Topeka and Kansas City areas. He is a Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach and award-winning author. Dr. Bowhay earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Washburn University, Master of Arts in Student Affairs Administration from Ball State University, and Doctor of Education Leadership in Higher Education at Baker University.
