Graduation

A commencement ceremony is held at the end of the spring semester. Students who are on track to complete graduation requirements should see their advisor to complete a Graduation Request Formand degree check sheet, which are turned into the Registrar’s office for review at the beginning of the term that graduation requirements will be completed.

The graduation request form should be turned into the Registrar’s office by October 15th for fall graduates and March 1st for spring graduates.

The Independence Community College Spring 2017 Commencement will be held on Saturday, May 6th, 2017 at 10:00am at Memorial Hall in downtown Independence (410 N. Penn Ave).  For your information and to assist you in planning for the day, please refer to the following:

  • Student caps/gowns will be available for pick up beginning Friday, April 28th in the Registrar’s Office (AC 116). These are yours to keep.  Included in your cap and gown package is a name card that you will need to fill out and bring with you to practice and Commencement.
  • You may purchase non-personalized Graduation Announcements through the ICC Bookstore (620-332-5440).
  • There will be a photographer set up prior to and following the ceremony for formal portraits of graduates or grads with family/friends. The photographer will also photograph every graduate as they receive their diploma.  Enclosed is photo ordering info.  Payments will be required at the time of ordering.
  • You are welcome to invite as many family members and friends as you wish – there are no reserved seats or tickets required.
  • Practice will be at 1:00pm on Friday, May 5th.  You will meet on the Civic Center level of Memorial Hall (downstairs – doors facing Auto Zone) in the main hall.
  • On graduation day, graduates will line up in the Civic Center main hall or outside the Civic Center depending on weather for the processional at 9:30am. The ceremony will last approximately one hour. There will be a reception in the Memorial Hall lobby following Commencement.
