Computer Programming

Computer Programming continues to be an expanding field and viable career choice as individuals and businesses seek technology-based solutions to everyday problems. Computer programmers help tailor programs to suit clients’ specific needs.

Programmers are usually responsible for coding or converting detailed sets of instructions into a computer language. They also repair, update, expand and modify existing computer programs.

At Independence Community College the Computer Programming degree and Technical Certificate are designed to educate and prepare students to be competitive candidates in the field with the latest technological certifications and experience with new applications and programming languages.

Students graduating with this degree can acquire positions in Computer and Information Systems, Network Administration Support, and Computer Science Assistant.

Technical Certificate graduates can seek work in Help Desk Administration, Information Systems Security, Computer Programming, PC Support, or Network Administration Support.

A student may also transfer to a 4-year university if they are interested in furthering their education in Computer Programming.
