Students Earn Ambassador
Scholarships through ICC
Program
The Independence
Community College
Admissions Department
has announced the
2009-2010 ICC Student
Ambassadors. The
fifteen member group has
added ten new local and
area college students to
the scholarship
program.
“The ICC Ambassadors are
selected for their
leadership,
communication and social
skills,” said Sally
Ciufulescu, Director of
Admissions at ICC and
Ambassador Sponsor.
“They contribute a lot
to the college and are
commissioned to serve as
campus leaders and
promote the college in
the communities we serve
as a student
representative of the
college.”
The new Ambassador
Scholarship recipients
are: Josh Bromley,
Chelsea Peters, Seth
Schrag, and Brandi
Wright, all of
Independence; Amanda
Lambert, Cherryvale;
Katelyn Haley,
Coffeyville; Amberlyn
Strasburg, Shecainah
Villarta, both of
Fredonia; Maegen Chaput,
Neodesha; and Cole
Norton, of Bartlesville,
OK.
Returning ICC sophomores
in the Ambassador
program are: Derek
Reyes, and Jackie Hise,
both of Independence;
Chelsea Peck, Neodesha;
Maryann Blankenship,
Caney; and Cheryl Bell,
of Sedan.
ICC Ambassadors work
with high school
students, transfer
students, and other
visitors to the campus
who are interested in
learning more about
ICC. The primary duties
include conducting
campus tours,
distributing follow-up
communication, and
assisting with campus
events and community
activities. Each ICC
Ambassador will receive
a books and tuition
scholarship for the
school year.
“These are wonderful,
bright and active
students and I’m looking
forward to working them
this year,” said
Ciufulescu. “They are
natural born leaders and
I know they will make a
difference on our campus
and in the community.
I’m proud to be working
with these young
adults.”
