Fab Lab ICC to host entrepreneurship training program

Fab Lab ICC to host entrepreneurship training program

Independence, Kansas — April 5, 2017—The Fab Lab at Independence Community College (ICC) will host the Ice House Entrepreneurship Program Facilitator Training May 2- 4 at the Historical Memorial Hall and Civic Center.

The event is organized by the Entrepreneurial Learning Initiative (ELI) and will allow participants to become certified to facilitate Ice House Entrepreneurship Programs by learning and understanding entrepreneurial processes and practices. The program is an experimental, problem-based learning system designed to inspire and engage participants in the fundamental aspects of an entrepreneurial mindset.

The training will be delivered by author and ELI founder Gary Schoeniger along with two to three facilitators from ELI. Participants will gain a new kind of thinking and learn how to implement within their organization or community.

Fab Lab ICC Director, Jim Correll, hopes that by hosting the training, the material will be more available to ICC students in future semesters because it will be easier for ICC’s faculty and staff to participate.

In the past, the onsite trainings have generally taken place in large communities.

“We thought it would be good exposure for the college and Independence to become the smallest community to host the event.” said Correll.

Correll was able to coordinate the training with the help of the Innovative Business Resource Center and the Northern Montgomery County E-Community.
