ICC experiences continued growth for summer semester

Independence, Kansas, July 14, 2017Independence Community College (ICC) has released enrollment numbers for the summer (July) 2017 semester, and they show a 9.8 percent increase of over the previous year.

“These are some impressive numbers,” said ICC president Dan Barwick. “We went from 355 individual students last summer, to 390 this semester. The success stories of our students are clearly spreading.”

Current enrollment at ICC is one of the highest in the school’s history. The other peak years occurred during the 2009-2012 recession, in which community college enrollments increased at the state and national levels.

“Many factors created this increase,” said Barwick. “We see both an increase in traditional enrollment and online courses.”

This is the sixth straight term of year-over-year enrollment increases by the college.
