PIRATES GAIN A POINT IN TIE VS KCK
Independence, KS- Tuesday after going up by two goals against KCK, the visitors squeaked two by Indy late to bring the game to overtime. Two overtime periods later, the hard-fought battle ended in a tie.
A first half goal from Aleksa Ristic put the Pirates up 1-0 going into the half. Then a second half goal from Manny Sevilla doubled up the scoreline making it 2-0 for Independence.
Two late equalizers from KCK saw the game go into overtime 2-2. With no one able to break the deadlock, the Pirates record now goes to 1-5-2 for the season while KCK is now 3-2-2 on the season.
The Pirates now travel to Heston Friday for their next conference match-up.
INDEPEDENCE MEN’S SOCCER POSTS 3-0 VICTORY OVER OKLAHOMA Wesleyan UNI. JV
Independence, KS – The Independence Community College men's soccer team picked up its first victory of the season as the Pirates posted a 3-0 victory over host Oklahoma Wesleyan University JV Friday in Independence.
With the win, the Pirates improved to 1-2-1 on the year. Independence's took a 1-0 lead into the half-time break when Brian Castaneda scored off an assist by Steven Sosa.The lead grew to 2-0 when Matt Peters dished out an assist on a goal by Sosa just 15 minutes into the second half. The Pirates pushed across the final goal of the game at 79th minute when Steven Sosa scored his second goal unassisted in the match.
The Pirates dominated play, outshooting the Eagles 9-2 while holding an 11-2 advantage in corner kicks. Independence’s starting goalie Tom Gaskell made two saves in the contest.
The Pirates return to action Tuesday, when the team travels to Overland Park, KS to face
Johnson County Community College in a 3 PM matchup.
