Overdue, lost and damaged materials
Students are encouraged to return library materials on time, so that they are available for other patrons to use. However, the ICC Library does not charge overdue fines for items borrowed from the library's collections. Any item that has not been returned by the last day of class for a given semester (before the start of final exams) will be marked as lost. At that point, the full cost of the item will be billed to the student's account, plus a $5.00 processing fee.
These charges are nonrefundable. Materials that have, in the judgment of the Library Director, been damaged to the point that they are no longer usable will also be billed to the student's account, plus a $5.00 processing fee.
Interlibrary Loan
ICC students are encouraged to request materials from other libraries through interlibrary loan. Materials requested through interlibrary loan typically take
3-4 days to arrive, and patrons may request a maximum of 5 items at a given time. The loan period for interlibrary loan materials is set by the lending library, and interlibrary loan materials
cannot be renewed. No new requests for interlibrary loans will be accepted in the final two weeks of a semester.
Keeping interlibrary loan materials past their due date is a serious issue, as it stands to jeopardize the ICC Library's lending privileges with other libraries. A fine of $1.00 per day will be levied on late interlibrary loan materials until the item has been returned or reported as lost. The borrower may not check out any other library materials until the item has been returned and the fine (plus the cost of replacing the book, if necessary) paid.
