Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary Loan

All ICC students and ICC Employees (Full and Part-Time)  may request either books or periodical articles through Interlibrary Loan.

General Things to Keep in Mind

  • Interlibrary Loan (ILL) cannot be used to borrow books for required reading, textbooks for college classes, or books that instructors wish to place on reserve.

  • Books in the ICC system that are checked out may not be requested on ILL.  Patrons will have to place themselves on the circulation system request list.

  • The William Inge Collection is not available on Interlibrary Loan.

  • Due to U.S. Copyright Laws, it is illegal to request several articles from the same issue of a journal, or even from the same year.

  • Allow 7-10 days for turnaround when requesting materials.

  • Check at Circulation Desk for Interlibrary Loan materials requested.

  • Fine of $.25 per day per item will be assessed for overdue ILL books.

The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, US Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material.  Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction.  One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any purposes other than private study, scholarship, or research"

If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use", that user may be liable for infringement.  This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright law.
