Residence Hall Coordinator

 

Independence Community College (ICC) seeks applications for the position of Residence Hall Coordinator. ICC is located in southeast Kansas and serves approximately 3,000 full- and part-time students each year through its programs, courses and services, and has initiated continuous quality improvement through the AQIP accreditation process.

 

Position Summary

 

The college is seeking a Residence Hall Coordinator who will maintain order through the administration of college approved rules, regulations and expectations in the dorms and assist with the college’s residence life program and new student orientation.  This is a live-in position and requires participation in an on-call rotation with the Assistant Dorm Coordinators.  This position will plan hall programs, assist with administrative tasks, and be the primary contact for residents’ concerns.  The Residence Hall Coordinator will also work to establish a Dorm Council which prospective candidate will advise.  The selected candidate will work a flexible schedule, including some nights and weekends.  This Position is the first level for administration of student discipline for those residing in the ICC dorms.

 

Qualifications

 

Associate’s Degree required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.  Experience in student housing is strongly preferred.

 

Position Information

 

Full-time, 12-month position.  Salary is commensurate with experience.  This position requires the prospective candidate to reside in the residence hall, within a two-bedroom apartment. Position includes a meal plan; 19 meals per week (when the cafeteria is open), and would also include participation in the college’s employee benefits program.

Job Description

 

The Residence Hall Coordinator must be assertive, and will assist with the college’s residence life programming and new student orientation.  This is a live-in position and will require participation in an on-call rotation with the Assistant Dorm Coordinators.  This position will arrange residence hall programs, assist with administrative tasks, and be the primary contact for resident’s concerns and dorm related discipline and will report to the Dean of Student Services.

 

Primary Responsibilities

1.       Responsible for dorm room assignment, check-in and check-out.

2.       Responsible for the effectiveness, maintaining order, of the ICC dorm complex for the good of our resident student body and ICC.

3.       Responsible for directing a comprehensive residence life program for traditional-aged students living in campus housing; on a daily basis.

4.       Share on-call responsibility with Assistant Dorm Directors, as determined by scheduling.

5.       Help oversee the college’s student judicial system in cooperation with the Dean of Student Services.

6.       Oversee a comprehensive series of hall programming for residential students; as scheduled.

7.       Assist with planning and implementation of New Student Orientation.

8.       Assist with the development of the Student Handbook; annually.

9.       Assist with the development of the Residence Hall Guidebook; annually.

10.   Recruit and advise ICC dorm council.

11.   Assist in creating information brochures and flyers; on an as needed basis.

12.   Ability to participate in AQIP meetings, as requested.

13.   Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

1.       Must have experience and education related to the job description.

2.       Associate’s Degree required; Bachelor’s preferred.

3.       Experience as a Resident Assistance or similar position is strongly preferred.

4.       Must espouse a collaborative work ethic and a philosophy of higher education that is compatible with the mission of a comprehensive community college.

5.       Ability to drive and a valid driver’s license.
