Position Announcement

Independence Community College is seeking applications for the position of  Head Volleyball Coach.  Independence Community College, a small, rural, residential community college in southeast Kansas, serves approximately 3000 full- and part-time students each year and has initiated continuous quality improvement through the AQIP accreditation process.

Position Summary

The college is seeking a team-oriented professional who will administer the volleyball program, under the leadership of the Director of Athletics.  Responsibilities will include the development, implementation and fiscal control of the volleyball budget; the supervision of the student athletes’ educational and athletic program; direct involvement with the Pirate Booster Club in fundraising and promotional efforts; supervising and disciplining players during practices and games; and additional duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required along with experience in coaching and recruiting soccer.  College playing and/or coaching experience preferred.

Position Information

The Head Volleyball Coach is a full-time, 12 month position with benefits.  Salary is $27,000.

Job Description

HEAD VOLLEYBALL COACH

Primary Responsibilities

1.      Lead ICC’s Pirate Volleyball Program.

2.      Recruit under NJCAA & Jayhawk Conference guidelines that encourage student athletes to enroll in ICC programs of study and athletics.  The successful candidate will be responsible for recruiting and maintaining a full team.

3.      Responsibility and fiscal control of the program budgets under ICC, state and conference guidelines.

4.      Encourage student athlete success by maintaining contact with student services, individual faculty and athletes to insure academic progress and reasonable graduation rates.

5.      Assist college officials in advancement of student athlete success by actively pursuing financial development opportunities through official channels of the college, including the Booster Club and ICC Foundation.

6.      Assist in developing and maintaining a code of discipline and behavior in agreement with ICC college policy and ensure that student athletes are informed as to their rights and responsibilities related to continued participation in athletics and as successful students.

7.      Supervision of players and a part-time assistant coach during practices, contests, and trips so athletes and staff represent ICC in a positive manner.

8.      Perform additional duties as may be assigned.

1.Bachelor’s Degree in physical education or related field required.

2.Recruiting experience required.

3.College playing and/or coaching experience preferred.

6.An educational philosophy in alignment with that of a rural comprehensive community college.

7.A commitment to high professional standards, including professional growth.

8.Ability to effectively manage personnel and resources.

9.Ability to drive and possession of current valid driver’s license.
