Position Announcement
Groundskeeper
Independence Community College is seeking applications for the position of
Groundskeeper. Independence Community College is located in Southeast,
Kansas and serves approximately 3,000 full- and part-time students each year
through its programs, courses, and services and has initiated continuous quality
improvement through the AQIP accreditation process.
The college is seeking a team-oriented professional who, as a part of the
Physical Plant Team, will perform a variety of grounds activities for the
college physical plant and ICC West.
The position will include providing specific duties as assigned, with the
possibility of assisting with other interior and exterior improvement
activities, assisting with building/campus activity set up, completing work list
priorities, and initiating task on your own.
The Supervisor of the Physical Plant may assign other duties for the
successful operation of the campus.
Qualifications
Qualifications for this position will include experience related to the scope of
work. The ideal candidate will
possess excellent Grounds skills and be able to interact with the public and ICC
staff in a professional manner.
Position Information
12 month, Full time position would include participation in the college's
employee benefits program. Salary is
commensurate with experience.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Groundskeeper performs grounds activities with the college Physical
Plant Team. Specific skills and
responsibilities of the position will be dependent or demonstrated knowledge of
and expertise under the direction of the Supervisor of the Physical Plant.
1.
Mowing, weeding main campus and ICC West
2.
Edging sidewalks
3.
Maintaining weeds
4.
Pick up trash on main campus and area neighborhood
5.
Maintaining the pond, landscape around the pond
6.
Marking parking lots
7.
Clearing sidewalks and parking lots of snow and ice
8.
Planting new flowers and plants and maintaining them.
9.
Maintenance of grounds equipment
10.
Trimming bushes and trees
11.
Able to work unsupervised and/or with others
12.
Additional assistance needed in the Maintenance Department
