Business and Computer Technology
Independence Community College is seeking applications for the tenure-track
position of Associate Professor of
Business and Computer Technology
Instructor. Independence Community College is located in
southeast Kansas and serves approximately 3000 full- and part-time students each
year through its programs, courses, and services and has initiated continuous
quality improvement through the AQIP accreditation process.
Position Summary
The college is seeking a team-oriented professional for the tenure-track
position of Associate Professor of Business & Computer Technology. Teaching
areas will include, but are not limited to: Business & Computer Technology and
Computer Applications. The instructor will be responsible for the development
and documentation of instructional content of outcomes-based learning programs.
Provide a positive learning environment committed to student success by being
responsive to various learning styles. The position further requires involvement
in curriculum development, academic advisement, shared governance and committee
work.
Qualifications
Master’s Degree with 18 hours of study in teaching field is required.
Community college teaching experience preferred and experience with alternative
technological delivery systems is beneficial.
Position Information
Position begins with the start of ICC’s Fall Semester on August 16, 2010.
The position is a full-time, tenure-track position with benefits.
The salary is commensurate with
experience and education as determined by the negotiated agreement.
The position reports to the Chair of
the Business and Technology Division and to the Dean of Instruction (Chief
Academic Officer).

Job Description
Faculty members, as part of the instructional team of Independence Community
College, administer programs of instruction with the direct assistance of the
Division Chair and under the supervision of the Dean of Instruction (Chief
Academic Officer). Faculty members develop, maintain, and enhance
outcome-based educational opportunities for learners to fulfill the mission and
strategies of the College.
Primary Responsibilities
1.
Teaching areas include, but are not limited to: Business & Computer Technology
and Computer Applications.
2.
Responsible for the development and publication of the instructional content of
outcome-based learning programs meeting the needs of the diversified population
of learners.
3.
Availability during posted office hours for student advisement and academic
assistance and encouraging student retention, continuity, progress in coursework
and student success.
4.
Responsible for working with faculty on learner and program outcome monitoring
of courses and program(s).
5.
Assist in development of new courses and/or programs.
6.
Work with other instructors and college personnel to promote ICC and the
curricula offerings.
7.
Fiscally responsible for assisting in budget development/implementation, and
control necessary to deliver instructional programs in an efficient and
effective manner to provide access and quality learning.
8.
Assist in development of new programming, curriculum development and revision.
9.
Maintain and enhance teaching excellence through ongoing professional
development by participation through in-service training, workshops, seminars
and publication.
10.
Assist with maintaining inventory, cash receipts, deposits, and appropriate
records.
11.
Provide input in the college’s organizational shared governance structure
through involvement in committees, councils and supportive activities related to
the development and enhancement of the college mission and strategies.
12.
Provide a positive learning environment committed to ICC student success by
being receptive to various learning styles (e.g. on-line, video, ITV,
accelerated, and hybrid) found in the comprehensive community college setting.
13.
Provide information and assist with external reporting for accreditation,
governmental, and state agencies. Complete or provide requested input for
reports for external agencies as required.
14.
Work with the instructional team to provide outcomes assessment, follow-up, and
improvement(s).
15.

Qualifications
1.
Master’s Degree with 18 credit hours in teaching field required.
2.
Content area expertise in the assigned field of teaching and an interest in
imparting knowledge to others.
3.
Community college teaching and experience in alternative course delivery systems
preferred.
4.
Computer literacy and knowledge of Microsoft Suite and Blackboard.
5.
Flexible work schedule dependent upon program needs.
6.
An educational philosophy in alignment with a small, rural comprehensive
community college.
