McKewon and Jesse Kinzey
were selected First Team All
Conference, and Bryce
Johnston was voted Second
Team All Conference by the
leagues head coaches.
McKewon was voted the First
Team Shortstop. The
Sophomore from Inola,
Oklahoma finished the
year with a .425 average
with 13 doubles, 2 triples
and 10 homeruns.
Kinzey was selected as the
All League Utility Player.
The Catoosa Oklahoma native
finished his season with a
.415 average while hitting
14 doubles, and 12 homeruns.
He also was the ace of the
Pirate pitching staff.
He finished the year with a
2.82 ERA in 67 innings
pitched. Bryce
Johnston was voted as a
second team outfielder.
His final stats read .392
average, 20 doubles, 1
triple and 7 homeruns.
The 20 doubles breaks the
school record of 19
previously held by Sam
McGill '09 and Jake Peterson
'03.
Phillies Draft Former
Pirate!!!
For the 3rd
year in a row a former
Pirate baseball player has
been selected during
Major League Baseball's
first year player draft.
Justin Beal, who played at
ICC during the 2006 and 2007
seasons, was drafted in the
28th round by the
Philadelphia Phillies.
Beal, who recently finished
his college career at
Missouri Southern in Joplin
Mo, is the older brother of
Josh Beal who was selected
in the 2007 draft by the
Cincinnati Reds following
one season with the Pirates.
Jon Nagel was selected by
the Chicago Cubs during the
2008 draft.
