#16 Pirates Pick Up Two More Wins

Iola, KS and Overland Park, KS-   The #16 Independence Pirates picked up two more conference victories with wins at Allen and Johnson County.  The two victories improves the Pirates overall record to 19-3 (10-0) and ICC also won their 18th consecutive contest.

Against Allen County, ICC found a way to hold on to the contest with an 82-79 win.  Allen County's duo of Petty brothers, who combined to score 56 points, were almost good enough to beat the Pirates, but Antonio Hanson scored 29 points and James Bush added 11 points and 11 rebounds to fend off the Red Devils.

At Johnson County, ICC led by as many as 18 points in the second half, but Johnson County made a furious rally to even things up and even put themselves in front by two points.  The Pirates got a timely basket by Daniel Rowe and Michael Craion sealed the deal by making 1 of 2 free throws to give the Pirates a 76-72 victory.

Antonio Hanson led the way with 24 points and James Bush recorded his second double-double of the week with 16 points and 15 rebounds.  Daniel Rowe added 14 and Michael Craion added 11.

ICC also improved to 10-0 in league play.  Independence begins a 2-game homestand on Wednesday the 6th against Labette Community College at 8 pm.
